Ujjain 2 Day Itinerary with Mahakaleshwar & Bhasma Aarti
2
Days
Can You Cover Ujjain in 2 Days? Absolutely.
Ujjain is an ancient city — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in India, dating to at least 600 BCE — but its main pilgrimage sites are relatively compact. With 2 days, you can do it properly: Bhasma Aarti at dawn, Mahakaleshwar darshan, Harsiddhi temple, Ram Ghat, Kal Bhairav, Sandipani Ashram, and still have time for a peaceful walk along the Shipra.
The key to a great Ujjain visit is timing. The Bhasma Aarti begins at 4 AM and must be pre-registered. The Sandhya Aarti at Ram Ghat happens at sunset. Knowing what happens when — and being in the right place at the right moment — transforms an ordinary religious visit into a profound experience. That is what this guide is for.

Essential Tips for Your Ujjain Visit
Bhasma Aarti registration: Must be done 15–30 days in advance on the official MP Tourism website or through us. 250 people per session. Spots go fast, especially in winter and during festivals.
Dress code: Traditional Indian attire is strongly preferred at Mahakaleshwar. Dhoti-kurta for men; saree or salwar suit for women. The temple priest may deny entry in Western attire.
Remove shoes before entering any temple. Shoe deposit stalls (fee: ₹5–10) are available outside all temples.
Mobile phones are not permitted inside the Mahakaleshwar main sanctum.
The area around Mahakaleshwar is pedestrian-only — park your vehicle at the designated parking area.
Best months for Ujjain: November to February for pleasant weather; Shravan (July–August) for peak spiritual energy.
ATMs near Mahakaleshwar sometimes run out of cash during festivals — carry sufficient cash.
