Gujarat – India’s Most Diverse State After MP

Gujarat sits just west of Madhya Pradesh, making it a natural extension of any tour from Indore. The state packs extraordinary variety: one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (Somnath), the only place in Asia where wild lions live outside Africa (Gir), the largest salt flat in the world (Rann of Kutch), the pilgrimage city of Dwarka, and one of India’s most vibrant metropolitan heritage trails in Ahmedabad.

MP Vacation Indore designs complete Gujarat tour packages from Indore — typically 4–7 days — covering the pilgrimage circuit, the wildlife experience, and the cultural highlights.

Famous Hindu Temples in Gujarat

Somnath Temple – The Eternal Jyotirlinga

Somnath is the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas and one of the most historically significant temples in India. It has been destroyed and rebuilt 17 times throughout history — by Mahmud of Ghazni and others — and the current structure, built in 1951, stands as a symbol of Hindu resilience. The evening light and sound show at the temple is magnificent, narrating the temple’s history against the backdrop of the Arabian Sea.

Dwarkadhish Temple

Dwarka — the ancient capital of Lord Krishna — houses the Dwarkadhish temple, one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. The 72-pillar temple dates to approximately the 16th century (built on a much older foundation) and its 5-storey spire (shikhar) rises 51.8 metres above the sea-level plains. The city is also near Nageshwar, the 10th Jyotirlinga.

Ambaji Temple

One of the 51 Shakti Peeths, Ambaji in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district is one of the most visited goddess temples in western India, particularly during Navratri when millions arrive for the annual celebration.
