Best Day Trips from Ujjain
1. Omkareshwar – The Perfect Ujjain Day Trip
At 80 km, Omkareshwar is the most natural day trip from Ujjain. Leave Ujjain by 6 AM, arrive for morning darshan at Omkareshwar by 8 AM, take the boat ride, explore the island, and return to Ujjain by 4 PM in time for Ram Ghat aarti.
2. Maheshwar – Narmada Ghats & Fort
Maheshwar is 100 km from Ujjain — a 2-hour drive. The fort and ghats are best seen in the morning, and the famous Maheshwari handloom sarees are available in workshops near the fort. This is a great half-day excursion.
3. Mandu – The Romantic Ruins
At 145 km from Ujjain, Mandu requires a full day. Leave by 7 AM, spend 5–6 hours exploring the Sultanate palaces and pavilions, and return by evening. Best in cooler months.
