Indore is Surrounded by Trails – Most People Don’t Know It
When Indore residents think of hiking, they think of Pachmarhi or Himachal Pradesh — places that require long drives and bookings. But within 30–90 minutes of Indore, there are genuine trails through forest reserves, hilltop viewpoints, and waterfall paths that work perfectly for a Saturday morning. Here is the complete 2026 guide.
Beginner Trails (Easy – Suitable for Families & First-Timers)
1. Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary – 15 km from Indore
Ralamandal is Indore’s closest green escape — a small wildlife sanctuary with a network of short, easy walking paths through dry deciduous forest. You will see deer, peacocks, and abundant birdlife. The trails are flat to gently sloping and take 1–2 hours to complete. Perfect for families with children and beginners.

2. Choral Dam – 35 km from Indore
Choral is primarily known as a dam and reservoir, but the surrounding hills and riverbank offer pleasant walking paths. The area is popular for picnics and easy nature walks. Some sections require mild climbing on rocky paths. Best visited in morning before crowds arrive.
3. Tincha Falls Trail – 25 km from Indore
A seasonal waterfall active from July through October, Tincha Falls can be reached via a short trail through the hillside. The trail itself is 2–3 km and relatively easy. Best visited right after monsoon when the falls are most powerful.
Intermediate Trails (Moderate – For Regular Walkers)
4. Janapav Hills – 20 km from Indore
Janapav is the source of the Chambal River and the highest point in the district at 881 metres. The trail to the summit takes 2–3 hours and passes through mixed forest. The sunrise view from the top — with the Malwa plateau stretching in all directions — is worth every step. One of the best sunrise spots near Indore.

5. Manpur Hills – 60 km from Indore
A more serious half-day option, the Manpur Hills offer denser forest, more elevation, and a more challenging trail than the options closer to Indore. The area is less visited, which means more wildlife sightings and quieter paths. Good for those wanting a more immersive experience.
Advanced Trails (For Experienced Trekkers)
6. Pachmarhi Trails – 195 km from Indore
Pachmarhi’s network of forest trails — to Dhoopgarh (highest point in MP), to Handi Khoh gorge, and to Chauragarh temple — are Madhya Pradesh’s finest trekking experiences. These require a 2–3 day stay at Pachmarhi and are best done with a local guide.
7. Panch Kedar Trek – Near Jabalpur
A 2-day, 15–20 km forest trek through the Satpura range near Jabalpur. This is the most challenging trail accessible from Indore and requires reasonable fitness and proper gear. Contact us for guided Panch Kedar Trek packages.
